The Molyneux Family
My Story
I started to become interested family history when, as a child, my grandmother, and father, told me stories of the family's past.
The name Molyneux (along with the 200+ variations of the spelling of the name) has a long and proud history.

Current Research
These are some of the family lines that I'm currently researching:
I am researching the ancestors and descendants of my third great grandfather - William Molyneux. He was born on 27-December-1756 and married Margaret Marsh 21-January-1787 Wigan, Lancashire, England, and his parents name were - Richard Molyneux and Jane. I am making good progress in locating many of William's descendants but I am not having much luck with his ancestors.
One possible lead is an old family legend that I am investigating - The Molyneux Family of Hawkley Hall, Wigan.
I am also doing some research on my paternal grandmother's family - the Fairhursts (or Lancaster Fairhursts) from the same area. My Grandmother's name was Isabella Jane Molyneux. On her marriage certificate, her maiden name was Lancaster-Fairhurst but she was a Fairhurst on her birth certificate. Her grandparents were George Fairhurst and Ellen Lancaster. Interestingly enough, Isabella's Father was also born a Lancaster and listed as "stepson" (along with many of his siblings) in the Census's of that period.
Past Research
The family lines I've researched the fullest are: Molyneux, Fairhurst / Lancaster, Griffiths and Hayden Families.
Most of my research is not complete but my main database is big - My Family Tree currently contains around 1019 individuals, in 257 family groups and 10 generations.
I have also attempted to research my maternal grandparent's families (Griffith & Hayden Families) but did not have much luck, mainly because they kept moving around. Griffith: were based mainly in London (Enfield, Middlesex) and Oxford. Hayden: were based mainly in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
